Invitation from President of CUG
We are pleased to invite you to attend Second International Workshop on Tethyan Orogenesis and Metallogeny in Asia and Silk Road Higher Education Cooperation Forum (IWTOMA), scheduled at 16–18 October, 2015 at China University of Geosciences(CUG,Wuhan). This Workshop is jointly sponsored by the Silk Road Institute, State Key Laboratory of Geological Processes and Mineral Resources, Faculty of Earth Sciences, Faculty of Earth Resources, School of Environmental Studies and International Education College.
This Workshop will focus on the sustainable development of the intercollegiate exchange and cooperation by discussing research and development of Asia Tethyan Orogenesis and Metallogeny both locally and internationally. We hope the Workshop and associated activities will offer you a great opportunity to interact with each other and share experiences in research and exchange ideas related to the strategy and policy of improving geosciences higher education.
China University of Geosciences (Wuhan) is a national leading university under the administration of the Ministry of Education of P. R. China, aiming to become a world-class university in Geosciences education and research. (Please refer to details about CUG at http://en.cug.edu.cn/cug/index.asp).
I look forward to seeing you in Wuhan in October.
Sincerely yours,

Invitation Letter from the Organizing Committee
The Organizing Committee of Second International Workshop on Tethyan Orogenesis and Metallogeny in Asia (IWTOMA) and Silk Road Higher Education Cooperation Forum would like to invite you to attend the IWTOMA to be held from 16 to 18 October 2015 at China University of Geosciences (CUG), Wuhan, in China.
The workshop will focus on Earth Science Themes and Cooperation in Higher Education. During the meeting we aim to discuss and exchange the latest ideas on the tectonic evolution and metallogeny of the Tethyan domain in Asia, whilst exploring methods for greater cooperation in higher education and scientific research in the Earth sciences, geological engineering and mineral resource exploration between CUG and other international universities in Asia.
The first workshop (IWTOMA 2014) had yielded an overwhelming response, with about 90 scientists from 15 countries attended the scientific meeting, and developing extensive academic exchanges and discussion for cooperation. Therefore the second workshop (IWTOMA 2015) warmly welcomes all participants to join us, not only scientists researching Tethyan orogenesis and metallogeny in Asia, but also University Presidents, Deans and Department heads.
A variety of activites, including a pre- conference excursion, a two-day conference and a three-day post-conference excursion are offered. For more information, please visit the Field Trips page of our website [http://www.iwtoma.org].
We believe that CUG through the IWTOMA 2015 is in an ideal position to organize and host an outstanding meeting in 2015.
We are looking forward to welcoming you at CUG in 2015!
Best regards,
Ma Changqian
Dean of International Education College

Location
Wuhan City, the capital of Hubei Province and the political, economic, scientific, technological, cultural and financial center in inland China, covers an area of 8494 km² and has a population of ca10 million. The third longest river of the world, the Yangtze River, and its longest branch, the Han River, meet here and divide the city into three parts, Hankou, Hanyang and Wuchang, facing each other across the rivers and linked by several bridges.
The area was first settled more than 3,000 years ago in the Han Dynasty, when Hanyang became a busy port. In the first and third centuries A.D., walls were built to protect Hanyang and Wuchang. About 300 years ago, Hankou became one of the country's top four trading towns. In the early 20th century, Wuhan became a hot spot of revolutionary activities. In 1911, Dr. Sun Yat-Sen led a revolution that overthrew the Qing Dynasty. There are many memorial structures devoted to the revolutionaries, such as the Red Building, which housed the National Revolutionary Army Government in the 1911 Movement, Yellow Crane Tower (Huanghelou), -one of the “three famous towers”, south of the Yangtze River and first builtt in 223 A.D., and the East Lake (Donghu Lake)-covering an area of 87 square kilometers. China University of Geosciences (Wuhan) is located at the food of the Nanwangshan Hill of East Lake.
